Kristiansand Bygg required seven cuts, 350 metres of diamond wire saw and a total of 26 days to complete the task.

During a severe autumn storm in September 2018, the vessel M/S Osfjord ran aground off the coast of Trøndelag in Norway. Several attempts were made to salvage the wreck, but none of the methods employed proved successful. In a final attempt in 2019, the ship was to be cut into smaller pieces using a wire saw, so that the sections of the wreck could be hoisted onto a barge one by one and brought ashore.
